In class, we are reading aloud and discussing a selection of short stories. Students have been provided time to complete written analysis in class. Work not completed in class is considered homework.

Below students will find a Research Booklet with links to helpful cites regarding MLA papers and citation. This booklet and its links have been reviewed thoroughly in class.
The MLA tutorials are brief YouTube videos based on MUN's use of MLA. All have been viewed and discussed in class.
And the formatting document is intended to assist students with pagination, hanging indents, and various formatting. Again, this document has been reviewed with the class.

- reviewing poetry terms and devices, as well as types of poems. All poems and notes will be provided to all students via Google classroom and this website.
- analyzing various poems to form a Poetry Portfolio (DUE: Wednesday, Nov.29th, 2017)

At home, students are:
-completing the following Personal Response Assignment due Thursday, Nov.9, 2017:
1.Provide the lyrics to a song that has significantly influenced you. Exercise mature judgement here as to appropriateness and respectability.
2. Provide a link to the song so that I can listen to it.
3. By referencing important lines or phrases in the song, explain in your personal response, how the lyrics have impacted you. Your response may, but not necessarily, include references to: imagery, tone, meaning/theme, sound, diction, title.
4. Response length: 250 word minimum (not including the song lyrics)

Unit 3: Novel Study - A Separate Peace by John Knowles

1. At home, students are expected to read the novel independently by Wednesday, Dec.6th, 2017.
2. In class:
- students completed a reading quiz on the novel composed of 50 multiple choice:

- we are viewing the film version of the novel.
- students will complete an essay on the novel. They will be provided with an excerpt and a question containing three literary terms. Each literary term will require 3 quotes from the excerpt for a total of 9 quotes in the essay.
